Trigger Point Performance course at HSP

Thursday October 20, 2011

Join HSP and Trigger Point Therapy on Saturday, November 12th, from 1-5:30 pm for a U6+ course.

If you are an athlete or just simply an active human, you have probably heard about “foam rolling” at some point in your travels. Foam rolling, ie. self myofasial release (self massage) is something that I’ve been doing for years and it wasn’t that long ago that the only foam roller you could find was at PT office. They were big, lost their shape over time and were not easy to travel with- lots of looks in the airport security lines. But now you can find foam rollers in almost every gym across the country. The times have changes and one company in particular, Trigger Point Therapy, has changed the landscape when it come to portable self massage tools- they’ve taken the roller to the next level.

We have been selling TP products at HSP since the day we opened our doors, simply because we know they work. And we are excited to be hosting a U6 (ultimate 6) course with a Trigger Point Master Trainer in November featuring The Ultimate 6 Kit. The U6 is the ultimate set of tools to help massage and maintain a healthy, active body. This package includes the TP Massage Ball, TP Footballer and TP Quadballer.

With the products patented design mirroring the feeling of a human hand, you are able to massage almost any part of the body safely and effectively on your own.

A lot of people buy the kit but don’t take the time to understand how to use it. Or they have heard about the products but just didn’t want to bother. Whether you are a coach, trainer, athlete or someone who just want to feel and move better, this is your chance to learn from the best.

"What makes a bicycle fast" A presentation by Ric Hjertberg

Thursday October 20, 2011

Join Ric at HSP on Thursday, October 27th at 6:30 pm for an in depth conversation on what makes a bicycle fast. And who is Ric Hjertberg? Ric started Wheelsmith in Palo Alto, Ca. in the 1970’s and over the next few decades he participated in a dizzying rush of cycling development involving aerodynamics, advanced materials, mountain biking, and (of course) America’s arrival on the international competition scene. He to Seattle 9 years ago to join Full Speed Ahead as New Technology Manager and 2009 began his latest venture, Mad Fiber wheels, which are made just up the road from HSP. If it has to do with bicycles and wheels, Ric knows how it works and will figure out how to refine it and make it faster.

Ric will be bringing along one of Project 96’s Superbikes, a very rare and unique aero machine developed for the Olympic games in Atlanta. He will use the bike to illustrate some of the principles involved with developing “fast”. And since wheels are a bicycle’s most influential component, Ric will also talk about “what makes wheels fast?” And with his involvement in Mad Fibre, Ric is one of the leading experts in the field of “fast”.

This is a great opportunity to hear from and learn from a true pioneer who is still working to develop better and faster products.

This event is free to the public.

Sports Nutrition-Recovering for Optimal Performance

Are you feeling tired or lethargic in your training? Are you unsure what to eat and when? Are you confused with all of the information surrounding sports nutrition? Ever wonder if carbohydrate loading really works?

We invite you to join Becky Hellerstein, a registered Dietitian, to explore how to optimize your performance with nutrition. Join us for this FREE workshop on Monday, October 24th at 6 pm. The workshop, the first of a 3 part series, will focus on recovery nutrition, specifically:

What is recovery nutrition?

Where is the science?

What/when to eat?

How will this help my performance?

We’ve all been through it: what to eat, when to eat it and how much to eat. And there is always more than one answer. Take this opportunity to hear about and learn more about the science and application of recovery nutrition from an expert in the field.

PowerBar will be providing sample recovery products and discussing how to utilize them in your training.

See you Monday!
