Rebecca and Jason had a trip to Cancun planned all year for full vacation, not even knowing that the 70.3 was within the same time frame! After completing their first half ironman in Victoria earlier this year, they figured what the heck, lets just travel to Mexico and tack on the Cancun 70.3. They learned to break down their bikes and set them back up in a matter of a few hours. They swam without a wetsuit! They flew in just one day before the event. And as many know Cancun is consumed with heat and humidity and a little 12 min run they did upon arrival nearly wiped them out. They seemed to have brought the Seattle rain as the words “extremely heavy rainstorms” were described by ironmanlive.com on race day. I have yet to talk to them, but am anxious to hear first hand about the conditions. Searching for results was a challenge…I had to touch up on my Spanish. These two keep getting better and better!
Rebecca placed 16th out of 26 in her division with a time of 7:01.13. Her bike was over a 30 min PR from Victoria. Fantastic job Rebecca!
Jason Arango, had a 5 min PR in the swim and a 6 min PR in the bike. Jason placed 45th out of 74 in his divison with a time of 6:42.24. Way to go Jason!
